Steve Riley

I am the deputy chief of the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, so my team is responsible for the mockups, the availability of the mockups, the budget to improve, repair, or maintain them and managing the scheduling piece of the facility. We get over one million visitors a year. I love the outreach piece of my job…talking to the visitors that come into NASA about our mission, the things we are doing, why we are doing them, how we are doing them and seeing the excitement in the general public's eyes. Sometimes you get really smart folks over here who are just in total geek-out mode because they are in this awesome training facility talking to the experts who help run it. That positive energy fuels me for the rest of the week. I make a point of trying to do at least one tour a week to help out the external relations folks and I get as much energy from the people who are excited to be here as they get from being here.
