RoundupReads OneNASA: What to Expect With the New Intranet

OneNASA: What to Expect With the New Intranet

by Noah Michelsohn | 2021-06-20

If you missed the announcement last week, Roundup Web will be transitioning to an agencywide intranet platform called OneNASA on Sept. 1, 2021. The new platform offers many benefits that will be utilized to increase continue improving employee communications (click here if you missed the article), but today we wanted to provide a glance at our new site.

Below, you will find images of Roundup Web next to OneNASA to get a feel for links will be moving on the page. Next week, we will publish a video tutorial to the new page to walk through all the changes prior to granting the JSC team access to the site on July 7.

We hope this preview helps to ease your mind, and we look forward to launching this new tool and sharing it with the JSC team!

General Side by Side View

As you can see in the image, the overall layout of the page will not be changing very much. The key change is that the news section, which is currently a scrolling bar on Roundup Web, will be displayed static boxes below the main page graphic. A single ‘Top News’ item will remain pinned in the main square and will be changed based on top news coming out of the center and the agency. Additionally, Roundup Live will be phased out, but replaced with mission updates through the new countdown timer on the page.

Dropdown Menu

One of our favorite features in OneNASA is the enhanced dropdown menu capabilities. In the image below, you will see that we are now able to categorize more efficiently, making it easier to locate the items that you need. Additionally, an agency dropdown menu with additional NASA resources can be seen immediately below the black banner on top of the page.

Useful Links

After carefully reviewing data on site usage across Roundup Web, the items that are used most frequently were determined as the new Quick Links and are located on the side of the page. The image below highlights where they are located. One important note: if your browser is zoomed in past 100%, your quick links may be displayed on the bottom of the page. Correct this by decreasing the zoom on your browser.

Where are Programs, Initiatives, and Share NASA?

The data that was used to design this page indicated that many of these links were not being used frequently. Therefore, to maintain quick access to the sites, but make the page more accessible and manageable for employees, these resources are now stored in the dropdown menu on top of the page.

JSC initiatives can be located in JSC Resources, Share NASA can be located in Outreach, and Programs and Projects can be located in JSC Orgs.

Get Involved

One of the great new features included with OneNASA is the ability to create community calendar events and announcements that will display directly on the homepage. Any employee can add an event or announcement, but the name of that employee will be tied to that posting. This can be found in the bottom of the page.
