Need to Know: Open House Details

NASA Johnson Space Center is hosting Open House in celebration of NASA’s 60th anniversary. We invite the public to come to the center and learn about the work being done on site. Make sure you are caught up on all the details below.
When is Open House?
Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests will not be admitted on site after 1:30 p.m.
What is Open House?
Open House offers a free, behind-the-scenes look at some of the agency’s historic accomplishments, as well as the exciting work currently going on in preparation for NASA to return to the Moon and then travel to Mars.
What can I expect to see?
During Open House visitors will have access to a variety of exhibits, mockups, and hardware, including:
What buildings will be open?
Buildings 2, 9NW, 11, 16, 21, 30, Saturn V rocket facility, and the Western Heritage Pavilion will be open during the event. All other buildings will be locked during the event.
How can I get on site?
The only public entrance available during the event will be Gate 1 located on Saturn Lane.
How can I help?
Employees are encouraged to volunteer at the event to assist with setup and take down, staff information booths, distribute event maps, and support astronaut autograph signings and a speaker series, Teague Talks. Shifts are available throughout the day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Can I buy a shirt?
Yes! Starport will be selling snacks and shirts in the Building 11 Gift Shop, at the Saturn V, and in the Teague Auditorium (cash only.)
Can I bring my dog?
There will be normal rules on site during the event, meaning no pets or firearms allowed. If you need your doggo fix, we recommend keeping up to date with Seaman Jr by reading A Good Boy in Space.
Any other important details?
No Pets (unless certified service dog)
No Firearms (includes license to carry)
No Weapons
No Ammunition
No Alcohol
No Coolers
No Food or Beverages
No Escort Badges required

- Guest speakers from the Astronaut Corps, International Space Station, Orion, Exploration Integration & Science Directorate, Commercial Crew, and ARES
- Moon Rocks
- Apollo themed quilts
- Live broadcast from ThirdRock Radio
- Inflatable Planetarium from the Lunar Planetary Institute
- Destination Station mobile exhibit
- Virtual Reality experience onboard the International Space Station
- AND MORE!
