Johnson’s version of a vehicle show

2018-08-02
Employees made the trek by foot, by bike and by car on the first day of August to view an anomaly of the best kind: three mock-ups of the spaceflight vehicles that will carry astronauts into space—Orion, Crew Dragon and the CST-100 Starliner—residing under one roof in the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility. The vehicles were a bit like inanimate rock stars as the NASA Johnson Space Center team took turns posing and capturing their own epic selfies for posterity.

While the Orion crew module has been here since March in preparation for Ascent Abort-2, the two commercial crew vehicles made the special visit to Johnson in time for the Commercial Crew Program flight assignment announcement on Aug. 3. All vehicles will serve as a stunning backdrop as Johnson conveys to the media, and the world, that there is room in the vast cosmos to unite countries and commercial entities for the benefit of humankind, and partnerships will propel that journey.
