Countdown to announce #NewAstronauts

NASA’s new astronaut candidates will be announced at an event here at our Building 9 Space Vehicle Mockup Facility at 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday, June 7, which includes a visit from Vice President Mike Pence. The announcement will be broadcast on NASA TV, and you can watch it live here (or see more in-depth viewing info below). 

Important: Attendance to the event is by invitation only. Please do not attempt to enter Building 9 or its catwalk to observe the event. In addition, there will be no tours allowed in the building after 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, through Wednesday, June 7. Also, Building 30, the Mission Control Center, will be closed for all non-essential personnel on June 7 from noon until 3:30 p.m.

Impact to JSC Employees Working On-Site:

Work From Anywhere:
Due to expected impacts to buildings on campus, employees in Buildings 9, 30, 12 and 45 (including the JSC Clinic) are encouraged to take advantage of Work From Anywhere policies with your manager’s approval. Buildings 16 and 17 may be impacted as well.

Closed Parking Lots:
NOTE: The following parking lots WILL BE CLOSED to employees Tuesday, June 6, beginning at 9 p.m.
  • Building 9 parking lot, including the south-side lot
  • Building 30S parking lot (except for essential personnel, whose names will be on an access list maintained at the guard shack)
Overflow parking will be available in the lot off Avenue C behind Building 25.

Watch it Unfold:
View the event on JSC Cable TV channel 4-1. JSC team members with wired computer network connections can watch using the JSC EZTV IP Network TV System on channel 404 (standard definition) or channel 4541 (HD). Please note: EZTV currently requires using Internet Explorer on a Windows PC or Safari on a Mac. Mobile devices, Wi-Fi, VPN or connections from other centers are currently not supported by EZTV. If you are having problems viewing the video using these systems, contact the Information Resources Directorate Customer Support Center at 281-244-6367, or visit the FAQ site.
