NASA Administrator Charles Bolden brings message of hope and pride to JSC

2016-10-12
On Oct. 5, NASA Administrator Charles Bolden came to Johnson Space Center, stopping to visit with employee groups and getting a firsthand look at the cutting-edge technology being developed here in Houston. While at JSC, Bolden visited the Crew Interface Rapid Prototype Lab and the International Space Station Virtual Reality Simulation, and he participated in a brown-bag lunch session with JSC team members enrolled in NASA development programs.

Bolden, along with Deputy Administrator Dava Newman, Associate Administrator Robert Lightfoot and JSC Director Ellen Ochoa, answered questions from JSC employees during an All Hands meeting that afternoon.

Bolden’s opening remarks emphasized the importance of every single person working with NASA.

“We really do make people’s lives better,” Bolden said. “We’re doing great stuff, and I’m incredibly proud to be a part of that.”

Earlier in the day, Bolden recorded videos to encourage employees to take care of their physical, mental and spiritual health.

“It is okay, critical even, to say, ‘I need help,’” Bolden said.

The leadership team discussed presidential transition plans, the future of NASA and the agency’s reaction to SpaceX’s plan to colonize Mars. The full video of the All Hands can be viewed here.
