Celebrating 20 Years of Safety and Health

2015-10-28
In spite of the overcast skies and gusty winds, employees turned out in force to check out the all the interesting things to see and do on Johnson Space Center's annual fall Safety and Health Day. Speaker Keni Thomas kicked the day off in Teague Auditorium by reliving his harrowing experience in the Battle of Mogadishu, later depicted in “Blackhawk Down.” Thomas, a member of Task Force Ranger during the battle, spoke on the importance of leadership as an integral part of setting an inspiring example for the people around you. Afterward, employees were treated to the “Decades of Wheels” car show spotlighting the progression of safety features over the past 100 years. Participants could also be seen visiting the many exhibitors, munching on anniversary cake, contributing to the animal shelter blanket drive and checking out Starport’s numerous exercise demos.  It was a great way to celebrate 20 years!
