A SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, named Endeavour, mated atop a Falcon 9 rocket will carry two NASA astronauts, Mission Commander Stephen Bowen, and Pilot Woody Hoburg, along with UAE (United Arab Emirates) astronaut Sultan Alneyadi and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev, who will join as mission specialists. Stephen G. Bowen (Captain, U.S. Navy, Ret.) was the first submarine officer to be selected as an astronaut by NASA. Bowen is a veteran of STS-126, STS-132 and STS-133. The STS-126 mission was the 27th International Space Station assembly mission.
Warren “Woody” Hoburg was selected by NASA to join the 2017 Astronaut Candidate Class. The Pennsylvania native earned a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
Sultan Al Neyadi has spent the vast bulk of his life in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, but he has been in the US for the past three years training with NASA astronauts. He comes from an IT background, having served as a network security engineer for the Armed Forces for many years. He holds a doctorate in information technology from Griffith University in Australia and a degree in electronics and communications engineering from the University of Brighton in England.
Andrey Valerievich Fedyaev (Андрей Валерьевич Федяев) is a Russian cosmonaut. He was a military pilot prior to retiring from the Air Force in 2013 and was selected as a cosmonaut in 2012.
