Coming Soon: OneNASA Intranet (the New Roundup Web)

2021-06-14

Beginning on July 7, 2021, Roundup Web will begin transitioning to ONENASA, a new agencywide intranet solution. All of the links you rely on to complete your work and manage your day will still be available; however, they will soon be accessed through SharePoint.

We know change can be hard, so over the coming weeks, we will provide information about the change and where links are moving. Additionally, from July 7 to Sept. 1, Roundup Web will continue to operate to allow a gradual transition. Throughout the rollout, Roundup will be posting information and tutorials to prepare you for the transition. Check back for a detailed update on the contents of the site next week.

For now, read on about why NASA is making the change, screenshots of the new intranet, and answers to commonly asked questions.

What is OneNASA?

OneNASA is a unified intranet platform that will be used across the agency. Rather than NASA’s Johnson Space Center having a custom-created WordPress website as in the past, we will integrate into a larger infrastructure while maintaining Johnson’s individual page identity. This new platform will make it easier to take advantage of agency resources and learn more about what is taking place at other centers.

What is Changing for Me?

Not too much! You will still be able to have access to all of the links and news stories that you rely on. The difference is that instead of going to the current URL, you will access the site at the OneNASA URL. However, this won't be accessible for another few weeks so keep reading to learn more, and we will continue to update frequently as we move closer to the launch.

Sneak Peek

Why OneNASA?

  • Adaptable: Curators will have the ability to make quick and consistent changes based on changing priorities, data analysis, and user feedback.
  • Collaborative: Increased compatibility with other centers and the enterprise, making collaboration and sharing resources for employee education and engagement seamless.
  • Capable: SharePoint offers intuitive tools, such as countdown timers, that highlight Johnson and agency goals without custom coding.
  • Unified: The agency is able to include additional links and news to center pages to help coordinate consistent communications on certain topics.

Added Features

  • Countdown timers: Employees will have better access to mission events, as SharePoint allows for countdown clocks and embedding NASA TV during launches.
  • Enhanced menu categorization: OneNASA enables better categorization and accessibility for the links that employees use most often.
  • Cross-agency communication: Employees at every center working on the same intranet platform will allow for enhanced information sharing and enable us to truly operate as ONE NASA team!

Frequently Asked Questions

When will OneNASA launch?

  • The Inside JSC page of OneNASA will launch on July 7. From July 7 to Aug. 31, employees will still have access to Roundup Web before the site redirects exclusively to ONENASA’s Inside JSC site on Sept. 1.

What is driving this change?

  • Working from home has certainly emphasized the importance and possibilities of communication and collaboration within a distributed workforce. Creating an agency infrastructure for internal communications will ensure that the entire NASA team is connected — regardless of where they are physically working. Additionally, bringing all the centers together will pool resources, leading to cost savings and reduced duplication of work.

Will employees be able to share feedback?

  • Yes! Employee feedback will be important throughout the transition. We have already asked many employees to test the site and share feedback. As we launch for broader center use, we will continue to request feedback to refine the site and make it as impactful as possible.

Will I need to take any action?

  • Technically … no. OneNASA will use a different URL, so we do recommend updating your bookmarks and home page following the launch. If you do not do this, the link for Roundup Web will automatically begin redirecting to OneNASA beginning on Sept. 1, 2021.

More information about this transition will be published in the coming weeks. Employees will continue to have access to Roundup Web until Sept. 1, 2021. The links you rely on from Roundup Web will continue to be accessible through OneNASA.
