JSC Says 'Thank You!' to Gerstenmaier

by Noah J. Michelsohn | 2020-09-01

Former NASA Associate Administrator for Human Exploration and Operations William Gerstenmaier was presented with a token of appreciation on behalf of the entire JSC Workforce on Aug. 24, 2020.

JSC Center Director Mark Geyer presented Mr. Gerstenmaier with a photo montage in the shape of the Space Station’s cupula with an image of JSC from space in the center and is surrounded by various photos representing critical work that Mr. Gerstenmaier contributed to at JSC, including Flight Operations, Shuttle-Mir, Space Station, Orion, Commercial Crew, and Gateway.

While the photos are stunning, the key component of the montage is the inclusion of a NASA flag that was flown in space aboard Space Station. Inscribed on the collage is a huge “thank you” on behalf of the entire JSC team that is included below.

In recognition of your extraordinary leadership and 42 years of service in shaping the future of human spaceflight.  Your passion, commitment, and dedication led our successes and guided America’s human exploration path.  Your contributions will continue to inspire and enrich NASA’s mission.

Best wishes and deepest gratitude from your many friends and colleagues at the Johnson Space Center

On behalf of the entire workforce we are incredibly appreciative for the decades of service Mr. Gerstenmaier dedicated to this agency and we are excited to continue his passion for space exploration.

Thank you Mr. Gerstenmaier!
