STEM Activities for Students at Home

2020-03-17

We understand that this is a challenging time for families in a time of school closures. In order to help keep students in a learning mindset, NASA has published education resources to engage students at home while practicing social distancing. Student games on NASA websites entertain as well as educate.

STEM Activities for Families are now available at https://www.nasa.gov/stem-at-home-for-students-k-4.html. The website titled NASA @ Home for Students has how-to guides and quick lessons for keeping young children engaged and inspired. Cool resources using household items can help keep little ones active launching rockets, building hovercrafts and more. Bring the whole family into the excitement. Additional activities for grades 5-8 and grades 9-12 are coming to the website soon.

Feeling uncomfortable with teaching at home? NASA Education Specialists are here to help. NASA’s Educator Professional Development Collaborative (EPDC) is offering webinars, info sheets, and Spanish language resources to parents and caregivers that provide ideas, tips, and general help on working with students in alternate settings. There are also digital badges that students can earn toward completing a digital mission. Finally, special science enhancement guides are available specifically for Texas students. Visit the events and digital badges links at www.txstate-epdc.net/ to get the help you need.
