Rock the Boots! Texas Independence Trail Ride - Feb. 25

by Lisa Gurgos | 2020-02-09

The Texas Independence Trail Ride will arrive at NASA’s Johnson Space Center on Tuesday, Feb. 25. The ride will leave from I-45 and NASA Parkway at approximately 2 p.m. (avoid NASA Parkway during that time). The anticipated arrival time at Johnson is approximately 3 p.m. Riders will enter the site via Gate 2 (off NASA Parkway), turn right onto Fifth Street, then left onto Avenue D and pass by Buildings 1, 2, 13 and 15 before making their way down Second Street. Dust off your boots and come on out and be part of the parade! A few of the riders will swing in by the JSC Child Care Center for a close-up with the kids.

You might want to avoid driving in this area during the on-site parade (approximately 3 to 3:30 p.m.). If possible, use Gates 3 and 4 (off Space Center Boulevard) instead of Gate 1 (off Saturn Lane), and please be extra careful when traveling in front of or behind the trail riders. Security will be assisting. Please do not try and pass the riders, as that can be dangerous for both the person on the horse and the person in the vehicle. The trail ride will head north on Second Street, to the Gilruth Center, for a campout overnight.

The official Go Texan Day is Friday, Feb. 28, so get out your western duds and let's get ready to rodeo!

Please note: The automatic Gilruth gate (Gate 6) that allows employees back on-site from the Gilruth will not be accessible all day Tuesday, Feb. 25, and until noon Wednesday, Feb 26.
