Are You ‘GO’ to Celebrate Apollo 11 with Space Center Houston?
This Saturday, July 20, Space Center Houston (SCH) will host an outdoor festival featuring a concert by WALK THE MOON and Phillip Phillips. Attendees will also enjoy a family STEM Zone with hands-on activities, robotic challenges and Apollo-themed learning experiences, as well as a variety of indoor and outdoor food and drink options and cooling zones.
Guests will board NASA tram tours to Rocket Park and the restored Apollo Mission Control Center, and hear notable speakers from the Apollo era. The first 15,000 Apollo celebration guests will receive a commemorative LED wristband that glows throughout the indoor experience, during the concert and with the official first steps countdown at 9:56 p.m.
On Saturday, Johnson Space Center team members will receive their usual complimentary access to normal SCH activities. The Golden Ticket upgrade to enjoy the concert experience is $20. JSC team members must show their NASA ID and purchase tickets on-site at SCH. Limit one Golden Ticket per JSC team member. You must be present to purchase.
With your NASA ID on-site at SCH only, JSC team members may purchase up to three Golden Tickets for family/friends at $44.95 per ticket. Any additional tickets are full price ($49.95).
Parking perk! Special parking accommodations will be made for badged JSC employees on July 20.
To help employees with access to Space Center Houston (SCH) for the Apollo 50th celebration this Saturday, badged employees and guests riding in the badged employee’s vehicle may park on-site at Johnson.
Access to the parking lot at JSC is through the main gate, Gate 1, off Saturn Lane. Parking will be permitted in the lot at the corner of Second Street and Avenue D (see the map below). SCH will provide continuous bus service from this parking lot on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until midnight. Employees will be asked to show their badge at SCH’s ticket window, even if a ticket was purchased in advance, so don’t forget to take it with you on the bus.
Here, find SCH’s Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Celebration Guide. It provides details on the bag policy, permitted items, prohibited items, etc., for the special event this Saturday.
