I am the deputy manager for the Exploration Systems Procurement Office, supporting the Orion Program. In this role, I’m responsible for overseeing mission-critical contract performance for multi-billion-dollar contracts by promoting innovative business solutions, developing strategic acquisition approaches to align with agency needs and empowering Procurement staff to maximize opportunities to be creative and agile. Throughout my tenure at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, I have also supported the International Space Station Program and Center Operations.

I have enjoyed collaborating with a multitude of different organizations to successfully enable NASA’s mission. From my perspective, this continued collaboration has fostered an environment where we operate as one cohesive team across the center. As a result, it has enabled the contracting professionals here at Johnson to provide the best business solutions for our customers.

Recently, I was allowed the opportunity to expound on the concept of team success at my induction ceremony into the 2018 Southern University Sports Hall of Fame for track and field. Competing at a high level in collegiate and professional sports helped me become better equipped to transition into civil service, as there are a lot of parallels between what’s needed for a sports team to be successful and what’s needed for an organization to be successful. Both a sports team and a federal organization need to be able to communicate and collaborate effectively, work well with a diverse group of team members—and all work to prioritize the same mission and vision. I’m very grateful for the Hall of Fame Induction, but what I’m most appreciative of is how athletics helped cultivate shape, and prepare me for the future.
