Mall Sidewalk Replacement Project Starting Soon

Based on your recent feedback in NASA Johnson Space Center’s Center Operations (Center Ops) Services Survey, your concerns regarding slippery and uneven sidewalks and roads will soon be addressed. Center Ops plans to demo and replace much of the mall-area sidewalks and the road surrounding Building 1. The work is being done in five phases and is currently scheduled to begin the first week in December. Completion is expected around September 2019.

Phasing will be done as follows:

• Phase 1 - week of Dec. 3 through mid-January
• Phase 2 - late January through late March 2019
• Phase 3 - early April through mid-May 2019
• Phase 4 - late May through mid-July 2019
• Phase 5 - late July through end of September 2019

Specific dates for Phases 2 to 5 have not been determined; however, the map will be updated as dates are determined.

Please be aware that pedestrian routes and parking will be affected during this construction, so please be patient and bear with us for the duration of the project. This schedule is subject to change due to weather, funding, material availability, etc.
