What do space and football have in common? For one: Super Bowl LI

The Super Bowl was this past February, and in Houston, Space City, of all places. But we miss our football.  

July 12 and 13, NASA’s Johnson Space Center is bringing one of America’s most-loved sports back into the spotlight—and just in time for pre-season kickoff in August.

The morning of July 12, Johnson team members hiked over to the Teague Auditorium to hear opening remarks by JSC Director Ellen Ochoa, International Space Station Program Manager Kirk Shireman and Defensive End Christian Covington of the Houston Texans. 

Before all 32 NFL team jerseys and the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee football that was flown aboard the International Space Station during Super Bowl LI moves on, there’s still time to bring your phone or camera and pose for some selfies with the memorabilia. Viewing/photo opportunity hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.

Join your fellow team members for a memorable look back at Super Bowl LI in preparation of pre-season festivities. Johnson is the last stop before the items go on permanent display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, where they will commemorate Houston's collaborative efforts and success in playing host to "the greatest Super Bowl ever."
