Moon is the Center of Attention for Exhibits, Discussion at SpaceCom

2018-12-12

Over the Moon? Yes. Under the (fake) Moon? Decidedly so.

Industry guests at this year’s SpaceCom, or the Space Commerce Conference and Exposition, were wowed by an oversized luminescent Moon hovering over exhibits and displays from various NASA field centers around the country—including Johnson Space Center—during the two-day conference. NASA’s Driven to Explore mobile exhibit, which was part of the many exhibitions converging under the centerpiece celestial body, saw more than 400 visitors.

Other technological eye candy included an Orion capsule mock-up complete with plastic crew members, photo-opportunity spacesuit, Space Launch System model, Moon rock, exploratory rovers, a NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations dive suit and more. Perhaps more importantly, the conference brought industry experts and professionals together for interactive sessions, showcased cutting-edge technology and highlighted the possible partnerships that could be made when NASA, aerospace and the commercial sector collide.
